Brooke Leeder is a graduate from the Victorian College of the Arts and a founding member of Trike, performing in works by Luke George, Frances d'Ath and Stephanie Lake for the Melbourne Fringe, Fringe Fashion and Apollo Bay Music Festivals. She performed in Frances d'Ath's Dead White and Stephanie Lake's Love is the Cause at Dancehouse. As a company dancer in Phillip Adams Balletlab, she performed in Upholster and Amplification, touring with the company to Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney. Brooke choreographed and performed The Man and his Wife for the Melbourne International Arts Festival's Spielgeltent.
In WA, Brooke has worked for independent artists such as Phillippa Clarke, Chrissie Parrott, Katrina Lazaroff, Claudia Alessi, Alice Lee Holland and was a company dancer for Buzz Dance Theatre. In Germany, she was a company dancer in battleRoyal and Martin Steifermann's MS Schrittmacher. Recently Brooke performed in Tenebrae et Lux for the Perth International Arts Festival 2013 and Midsummer Night Dream (As You Like It) with the Dmitry Krymov Laboratory, PIAF 2014.
Brooke has choreographed the works Not Even New York, Iron or Gold, The Line, Unravel and recently Mechanic, which was awarded the WA Dance Award for Outstanding Achievement in Choreography. Brooke was selected to present her new work Dancers Speak Volumes at the Subiaco Arts Centre's Independent Theatre Festival in March 2014 and received a Strut Dance SEED Residency Grant to begin her new work three in December 2014.
Brooke presented her first full length work Mechanic in August 2015, at the PS Art Space. Transforming the gallery into a theatre, the sold out season was described as 'mesmerising and captivating, Mechanic is an ambitious exercise in hard-edged rigour.' - Varnya Brominlow, The West Australian.
Brooke choreographed new works for Co3 Australia and the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and toured her work 'The Resistance' to Taiwan for the Kangdu Arts Festival. Her last work, Structural Dependency, was nominated for four WA Performing Arts Awards, including Best New Work and Best Production for 2018.
